September 2019 Prayer Letter

September 15, 2019

Dear friends and family,

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
1 John 5:14-15

I would like to send a VERY BIG THANK YOU to all our our supporters. Your loving prayers for our Pastor/Leader Conference were greatly appreciated and produced much fruit. We were able to host over one hundred and twenty people from the river communities. There were approximately 70 leaders. From this group, thirty were Pastors and twenty were family members. Three Indigenous tribes were represented: Kandozi, Shawi and Awajun.

Prior to the conference, Justo, a missionary from San Lorenzo with MEPI, used the Avivamiento Amazonica boat and outboard motor to travel many villages along the river teaching, baptizing and spreading the word about the upcoming conference which was a huge preface to conference attendees. God worked powerfully through Justo to accomplish this task quickly.
Ron Rushton from Calvary Chapel Philadelphia and Dustin Webb an american who is now full time in Peru as a missionary, were the two speakers for the conference. We were saddened to be without Pastor Mark Snyder from Scarsdale, NY, who was unable to attend due to a knee injury. I facilitated the details as such: obtaining the translators, providing meals, meal preparations, accommodations and much more.

The lessons taught were from 2 Peter 3:18…
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!
The focus of our presentations centered on stewardship. Our teaching explained how we as individuals, as a family and as a church are to utilize and manage all the resources God has given us to glorify Him and care for His creation. We equipped our listeners with Biblical truths so that they might be more fully able to share God’s Word with their home churches and communities.

We gave each participant a tee shirt, notebook and pens. They were very receptive and took notes. This was really exciting to witness since it is something they are totally unaccustomed to doing. Truly a tremendous blessing! Our acceptance marked a GIANT step forward in our relationship with them. So we Praise God. He made a way for them to come and filled them with renewed energy to serve Him.

For the past few weeks I have been de-briefing with Team Clif, Ron and Dustin. I also will be able to spend a few days in San Lorenzo with Pastor Malic and Justo. We are all committed to keeping the conference momentum moving forward. God provided the people who came to learn. Our primary goal now is to remain in personal contact and support them in their work.
We have posed these questions:
How can we spend more time with these people?
How can we get more indigenous groups involved?
How can we improve for next year?
How do I get other local leaders and pastors from the river villages excited?
How do we begin to unravel the customs and cultural differences of the Peruvian people to help them understand the truth of the Bible?

I know that this can only be accomplished with HIS power. I also know that I am energized and inspired by the experience and answered prayers of the Pastor’s conference. There is immediate work and follow-up of the conference teachings. In order to pursue this opportunity, I’ve decided to stay in Peru until sometime in 2020 to support the Peruvian leaders and watch how God uses them to further their ministry for His kingdom.
So that, wherever or however the Lord leads me, I will follow. Therefore, I ask you all again to continue to keep this ministry in prayer.

Thank You and God Bless,

The schedule of the conference for the traveling and teaching is on the website. You can also follow the calendar and pray each day during the conference. Peru for Jesus!
