September 2023 Prayer Letter
September 17, 2023
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them everything I have commanded you.
Matthew 28: 19-20
Dear friends,
I continue to respond to my calling in Peru. God has abundantly blessed my work and reminds me daily that there is much more to accomplish. My visit to the States for the past few weeks has been rewarding, although too short. What a joy to connect with faithful friends and to make many new acquaintances. I will be returning to Iquitos Peru, September 19th. Your prayers and support always give me new energy for the work ahead.
It was exciting to host the Peruvian Ministry Luncheon on Sunday, September 10th. A great deal of people came to hear what is happening in Peru. Many thanks to all who facilitated this gathering by providing tech support, preparing tasty Peruvian dishes, along with set up and clean up.
It was my pleasure to talk about our ministry in Peru. The organization I work for is Avivamiento Amazonica S. A. (“Renewal in the Amazon”). This is a non-profit 501c3 independent organization. It’s mission is to bring the gospel to the unreached and revitalize the church in the Amazon region of South America. The organization was created when I entered the mission field in 1996.
Many of you know that I grew up in Peru, the child of missionary parents. The indigenous people of the Amazon jungle greatly impacted my life and continue to do so now. In the past few years I have met people that remember my father’s influence on their lives. I pray that this relationship of friendship and trust will continue to strengthen the current bond between us.
I have been thankful to witness the breaking down of walls that exist between many tribes. Their new knowledge of God’s love and grace in in their lives has made a powerful difference in their relationships with others. They are eager to hear more of God’s word. ALL TO HIS GLORY!
He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30
The Pastor/Leader Conference, which includes Practical Skills workshops is scheduled for October 16-27 in San Lorenzo. This annual conference is a huge part of the ministry. Due to the increased number of pastors and church leaders attending this year (Thank you Lord!), the cost of presenting the program has greatly increased. As we strive to fulfill the mission, we rely heavily on the generosity of donors. We are reaching out to you for a specific donation to help cover the cost of:
materials, equipment, translators, cooks, food, teachers, rented river boats, gasoline for transportation along the rivers, gasoline for the generators, etc.
Our goal to cover the current cost of conference: $20,000.
Your contribution would be an invaluable asset to our organization and would help us to achieve the Lord’s work to educate the pastors and leaders to be conformed to the image of Christ. Our goal: train ’em up and send ’em out as well equipped men of God!!
Be assured that your support, love and prayers for this ministry will be used to reach the indigenous lost. We pray that you will be blessed by helping us reach so many of the lost, indigenous people of Peruvian Amazon Region. Thank you for partnering with Avivamiento Amazonica S.A. (Renewal in the Amazon)
As we move forward this year we are blessed to have you as friend and partner. We appreciate any help with these costs.
Thank you for giving!
